💡 Did You Know? (The Story Behind “6-7”)

The 6-7 phrase took off in December 2024, when hip hop artist Skrilla released a track called “Doot Doot.” In the song, he raps:

“6-7, I just bipped right on the highway (bip, bip).” - youtube link here

What started as a catchy bar quickly turned into a global trend.
In an August TikTok video, teacher and education creator Mr. Lindsay, known as the “OG Student Translator,” explained how it shifted from rap lyric to everyday slang. He first defined it back in February 2024, but the flood of daily questions led him to clarify it again.

According to Mr. Lindsay, everyone started using it — not just hoopers. Any question like:

  • “How tall are you?”
  • “What time is it?”
  • “What’s that?”

could be answered with: “Six seven.”

He joked that there’s literally no circumstance where a kid might not say it.
Creators joined in, athletes used it with their jersey numbers, and others turned it into a fun soundtrack for “getting older.”
Now it’s one of the most recognisable memes and trends across social media.
